About the role

Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is seeking a skilled professional to join our Engineering Services (ES) Division as an Electrical Engineer. This position supports the Weapons Facilities Operations (WFO) portfolio, which includes nuclear, accelerator, and non-nuclear facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the implementation of the Conduct of Engineering (COE) program at LANL in support of systems, structure, and component modifications and new installations, as well as supporting existing systems, modifications, and customers occupying the facilities.
  • Support facilities with a direct impact on LANL's stockpile modernization mission.
  • Daily tasks include responding to emerging facility issues, configuration management including facility technical baseline management, electrical/pressure safety support, reviewing designs for facility modification, and providing system health reporting.

Requirements

  • Ability to prepare calculations, apply engineering methods, and apply technology aided engineering tools to facility and operations-based engineering challenges.
  • Support timely and collaborative construction execution, including timely review of submittals, requests for information (RFIs), design changes, non-conformance issues, validation of commissioning documentation, and produce accurate as-built documents.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering principles, codes, and standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 2 years of practical work experience.
  • Additional qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of practical work experience, advanced engineering or technical degree, current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE).

Desired Qualifications

  • A strong preference for an electrical engineering degree and/or experience with facility electrical systems.
  • Experience in facility electrical systems, operations, and design.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit tools and work processes.
  • Knowledge of DOE, LANL Engineering Standards, and Conduct of Engineering principles and procedures.

Pay

The starting salary range for this position is $96,600 - $158,000 for the Electrical Engineer 1 level and $106,400 - $176,000 for the Electrical Engineer 2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate.

Schedule

The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
