Responsibilities

Create and update electrical construction drawings, including single-line diagrams, riser diagrams, panel schedules, and cable and conduit layouts for commercial projects.
Produce accurate as-built drawings from field sketches and marked-up plans, ensuring all changes are clearly documented.
Cook up electrical drawings with mechanical, architectural, structural, plumbing, and fire protection disciplines to ensure fully integrated design documents.
Prepare shop drawings and fabrication details as required to support construction and installation activities.
Ensure all drawings comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC), project specifications, and internal drafting standards.
Maintain CAD libraries, templates, and drawing standards to support consistency and efficiency across projects.
Rewrite drawings based on feedback from engineers, project managers, and field staff, and maintain document control to track versions and updates.
Aid with bills of materials (BOMs), material lists, and related documentation to support procurement and construction planning.
Use Excel to support panel scheduling, calculations, panel sizing, and other electrical design documentation.
Communicate proactively with internal teams, such as HVAC and other disciplines, to obtain required information (for example, motor sizes or equipment data) without waiting for direction.
Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and field personnel to clarify design intent, resolve issues, and support project delivery.
Read and interpret electrical plans, single-line diagrams, blueprints, and architectural drawings to produce accurate and coordinated drafting outputs.

Essential Skills

3+ years of electrical drafting and designing experience
Strong proficiency with AutoCAD, specifically for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (M/E/P) construction or systems manufacturing
Working knowledge of AutoCAD features such as Xrefs and CAD standards
Demonstrated ability to create and update electrical construction drawings, including single-line diagrams, riser diagrams, panel schedules, and conduit and cable layouts
Familiarity with electrical symbols, NEC requirements, panel schedules, and conduit and cable practices
Ability to read and interpret electrical plans, single-line diagrams, blueprints, and architectural drawings

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plainsboro, NJ.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $43.27/hr.
