Key Responsibilities
- Develop electrical designs and construction documents for HVAC systems, including power distribution for equipment such as air handlers, chillers, boilers, VAV systems, and control panels
- Design and layout indoor and outdoor lighting systems, including fixture selection, controls, and energy-efficient solutions
- Prepare detailed drawings including single-line diagrams, panel schedules, lighting layouts, control schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Perform electrical calculations such as load analysis, lighting photometrics, voltage drop, and circuit sizing
- Coordinate with mechanical engineers to ensure proper integration of HVAC equipment power and control requirements
- Ensure designs comply with NEC, IECC energy codes, ASHRAE standards, and local Connecticut regulations
- Select lighting fixtures and control systems to meet energy efficiency and client design goals
- Support commissioning activities for HVAC and lighting systems, including troubleshooting and field adjustments
- Conduct site visits for field verification, data collection, and coordination with contractors
- Revise drawings and documentation based on project updates and client feedback
Qualifications
- Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or related field
- Experience: 2–5+ years of electrical design experience, with exposure to BMS and PLC (Honeywell), and Low-Voltage Control Wiring (Lutron)
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, experience with Honeywell and Lutron, strong understanding of HVAC electrical requirements and motor control systems, knowledge of lighting controls (occupancy sensors, daylight harvesting, smart lighting systems), familiarity with NEC, ASHRAE, and energy efficiency standards (IECC)
