Electrical Designer

Responsibilities

• Create electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD.
• Design and modify power distribution, communications and control systems for shipboard systems.
• Perform electrical load calculations, sizing, and equipment specifications.
• Ensure all designs adhere to ABYC, Navy and DoD electrical codes.
• Conduct site visits in the Norfolk, VA area to verify as-built conditions and validate design concepts.
• Collaborate with engineers and waterfront technician teams to resolve design conflicts.

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• 2+ years of experience with electrical systems, understanding of electrical theory, Navy shipboard systems, and/or electrical code requirements
• Proficient in using AutoCAD to prepare detailed drawings, schematics and layouts from "as-built" documentation

Preferred Qualifications

• Electrical degree/certification
• 3+ years of electrical systems experience

Qualifications

• Must be a US citizen with an active Secret clearance.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit at a computer 40 hours /week (can be at home)
• In some weeks, attend a half-day trip locally to conduct a boat check.
• Boat access may require climbing a ladder.
