Electrical Design Engineer, Data Center Design Engineering
About the role
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join a global engineering team responsible for designing and innovating our expanding data center footprint. Engineers at Amazon work to design resilient, cost-effective electrical distribution systems ensuring high uptime for our customers.
Responsibilities
- Create designs meeting or exceeding quality and budgetary requirements.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to produce construction documents.
- Work with local agencies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and municipal requirements and building codes.
- Review and approve equipment submittals.
- Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests before and during construction phases.
- Work with commissioning teams to test, validate, and operate electrical systems.
- Manage concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.
- Support site reviews and work with onsite field engineers, providing evaluations, audits, and startup assistance.
- Offer creative, innovative solutions and have fun.
Requirements
Engineers must have hands-on electrical design experience, understanding of critical data center equipment, and knowledge of constructability. They must be capable of defining critical equipment specifications and approving equipment submittals. Engineers will directly support construction and be involved from site selection review through commissioning and turnover.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission-critical facilities, especially data centers.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
- Experience with commercial or industrial power systems or mechanical systems.
Skills
Ability to work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions, travel to sites for site reviews, and provide engineering evaluations, electrical systems audits, and startup assistance.

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $96,600.00 - $160,000.00 annually.
Schedule
Travel to data centers located in Oregon, Ohio, and throughout the AMER region is required, with up to 20% of your time potentially spent traveling.
