Electrical Design Engineer – Cable & Harness
Connexion Systems & Engineering is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer specializing in cable and harness design to join a leading advanced technology research and development organization in Bedford, MA. This full-time, onsite role focuses on highly technical prototype programs across aerospace, defense, optical systems, radar, and other advanced technologies.
About the Role
This position offers the opportunity to lead the design and development of system interconnects, cables, harnesses, and power distribution solutions from concept through fabrication, procurement, integration, and test. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver innovative solutions for sophisticated prototype systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead cable, harness, and electrical interconnect designs for prototype systems and programs
- Develop system- and unit-level electrical interconnection and power distribution schemes
- Create design concepts, block diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable/harness fabrication drawings
- Utilize 2D and 3D CAD tools to develop and document designs
- Perform basic engineering calculations and select appropriate components, connectors, and hardware
- Support procurement, fabrication, assembly, and system-level integration
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, systems, and other engineering disciplines
- Track and maintain program milestones and deliverables
- Communicate technical information effectively across teams and organizational levels
- Work independently with creativity, initiative, resourcefulness, and attention to detail
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering OR an associate degree/bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline plus 5+ years of relevant electrical interconnection design experience
- Experience designing electrical interconnections, cables, harnesses, or power distribution systems
- Experience developing schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable/harness fabrication drawings
- Experience with 2D and/or 3D CAD software
- Strong technical communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- U.S. citizenship is required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance, with willingness to pursue Top Secret clearance and compartmented program eligibility in the future (interim clearance may be acceptable at start)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electronic design for aerospace or defense applications
- Knowledge of connector selection, wire types, sizing, derating, and voltage-drop calculations
- Familiarity with electro-mechanical packaging, electrical fabrication, and assembly techniques
- Knowledge of NASA, military, ASME, and/or IEEE standards and specifications
- Experience with SolidWorks and/or Zuken E3
- Experience with PDM and/or PLM systems
- Experience designing for complex prototype or advanced technology programs
Pay
$115,000 – $150,000 per year
Schedule
Monday – Friday, standard business hours (100% onsite)
