Dewberry's MEPS Infrastructure team is seeking an Electrical Department Manager in Raleigh, NC, specializing in Water/Wastewater.

About the Role

The successful candidate will lead a team of skilled electrical engineers and designers, ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget. The Department Manager provides engineering resources to Project/Client Managers, mentors and trains team members, and fosters a technically strong team capable of executing projects in the water/wastewater market. You will join one of the strongest electrical teams in the Raleigh area, collaborating with over 30 electrical design professionals on reliable and resilient electrical infrastructure for water and wastewater facilities across North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Colorado, and Florida.

At Dewberry, you will expand your technical expertise in electrical distribution, motor controls, SCADA, and power system studies while contributing to water infrastructure projects that serve communities. Additionally, you will assist clients in integrating renewable energy solutions to meet decarbonization and electrification goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of engineers to execute projects, ensuring technical and quality oversight for all discipline-specific work.
  • Establish and improve standards for the electrical discipline.
  • Ensure adherence to project design schedules and budgets; notify Project/Client Managers at least two weeks in advance if deadlines cannot be met.
  • Review and update project budgets weekly and at milestone dates.
  • Maintain attention to project scope to identify potential additional services.
  • Assign staff for project design, including senior staff members and the Engineer of Record.
  • Identify milestone dates for discipline-specific deliverables to facilitate design coordination.
  • Delegate tasks effectively to engineering and design staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 12+ years of design or water/wastewater operations experience, or industrial projects.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required.
  • Experience designing electrical systems and producing design deliverables.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop a team.
  • Self-starter with initiative, drive, and determination.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC), NFPA Life Safety Codes, and related standards.
  • Strong verbal, writing, and interpersonal skills for coordination with other disciplines and client interactions.
