Position Overview

Johnsonville, LLC has an exciting opportunity for an 8-month Electrical/Controls Engineer Co-op in 2027. The successful candidate for the Electrical Controls Co-op position will become an integral member of the Johnsonville Engineering Team, which provides solutions viewed as World Class in the food industry!

Responsibilities

  • Learn to lead and contribute to the success of great projects that will benefit the safety, quality and efficiency at various production locations.
  • Gain experience in a company that is a world leader in food engineering from robotics, control systems, and software development.
  • Stretch professionally and personally every day and put your knowledge to use!
  • Learn and apply creative “out of the box” problem solving techniques.
  • Gain grass roots experience and learn the engineering behind manufacturing.
  • Apply engineering skills while leading/supporting projects geared to improve human safety, food safety, quality, capacity expansion, and productivity.
  • Develop Project Vision, Objective(s), Scope, Timelines and Deliverables.
  • Assist project automation and design engineers with new project implementations.
  • Work with cross-functional project teams supporting customers of the engineering team.
  • Learn how ideas go from concept to implementation in a manufacturing environment.

Education

  • Candidate must currently be working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Control Systems or a related field.
  • Junior or senior status preferred.
  • Minimum 2.70 overall GPA and a 3.0 GPA in their core concentration required.

Experience

  • Previous work experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project (AutoCAD or Solidworks is a plus.).
  • Experience with one or more programming languages such as C++, Java, Python, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, or PLC programming languages (e.g., Ladder Logic).
  • Demonstrated programming experience through coursework, personal projects, internships, research, or previous employment.

  • Able to maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
