About the role
We’re looking for a motivated early-career engineer ready to launch a meaningful career designing industrial control systems for essential water and wastewater infrastructure. If you’ve recently graduated or have up to five years of experience and hold a bachelor’s degree in an engineering field, this is an excellent opportunity to join our Electrical and Controls team.
Responsibilities
- Develop engineering designs for industrial control systems, including P&IDs, instrumentation plans, loop diagrams, control narratives, and instrument specifications for water and wastewater processes.
- Prepare technical reports, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and client presentations.
- Conduct site assessments and gather field data to support accurate design decisions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (electrical, mechanical, process, and civil engineers) under the direction of senior staff.
- Participate in construction support activities, including submittal reviews, responses to RFIs, and occasional field observations.
- Support factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and startup activities to gain direct exposure to control system integration and commissioning.
- Perform other duties as assigned, with clear pathways for growth into more independent design and integration responsibilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate effectively on complex technical challenges.
- Able to work independently on assigned tasks while proactively seeking guidance when needed.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD software (preferred).
- Basic familiarity with control theory, instrumentation, or programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is a plus.
- Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, or committed to pass within first year of employment.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience preferred, but not required.
- Experience with industrial control systems and water/wastewater infrastructure is a plus.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices is beneficial.
