Job Summary

The Electrical/Controls Engineer II will support manufacturing operations to meet operational and financial goals. This role evaluates current and future needs for plant equipment asset management and performs various electrical maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform electrical engineering for all aspects of projects with limited guidance
  • Aid in design, integration, installation, and support of manufacturing equipment, control systems, and data acquisition systems
  • Modify electrical control circuits and PLC/HMI programs
  • Work with the maintenance team in troubleshooting manufacturing equipment, control systems, and data acquisition breakdowns
  • Partner with Health, Safety, and Environmental team to ensure compliance with standards, practices, and policies for pollution control, installation, modification, quality control, testing, operating procedure, inspection, and maintenance of equipment
  • Maintain and upgrade site electrical infrastructure and power distribution
  • Prepare and review project technical electrical specifications for equipment and processes
  • Determine root cause failure analysis and develop corrective action plans
  • Assist facility with manufacturing operations and electrical safety initiatives
  • Perform systems analysis and troubleshooting
  • Develop and lead plant expense and capital projects as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Practical experience in Allen-Bradley AC variable speed drives
  • Experience in maintenance, operation, troubleshooting and repair of PLC systems
  • Solid knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLC and HMI applications (including programming) along with communications within enterprise and control networked systems
  • Experience with Industrial Database systems (WonderWare)
  • Experience in Siemens variable speed drives / European control schemes
  • Knowledge of Siemens PLCs
  • Experience in VMware
  • Knowledge of Servers and Thin Clients technology
  • Demonstrated ability to provide solutions to basic project and process engineering problems
  • Six Sigma Certification a plus
  • Solid analytical ability to determine and develop solutions to moderately complex problems
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the application of the NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace -- arc flash energy and shock hazards
  • Demonstrated capabilities in working collaboratively with internal and external engineering resources
  • Demonstrated experience in the engineering and implementation of 480V (Switchgear, Power Distribution Panel, Motor Control Center) and 4160V Power Distribution Systems
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Experience in electrical power distribution, equipment, protection and sizing
  • Excellent communications skills (verbal and written)
  • Proficient in computer applications and analysis of process data
  • CAD (AutoCAD) experience and ability to read and interpret electrical and control drawings
  • Ability to visually inspect and troubleshoot electrical/process control systems
  • Ability to be physically mobile throughout the Spunbond Process (stairs, heat, noise)
  • Ability to safely lift material weights up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to travel periodically, domestically and internationally
  • Ability to work with extended hours as necessary to complete work assignments
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
