About the role

The Electrical-Control System Engineer II - III position supports the Revere brand within SJE, a leading provider of automation and control solutions for various industries. Key responsibilities include designing, implementing, and testing electrical control systems, leading project management, and providing technical support.

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and program PLCs, OITs, and SCADA systems for industrial processes and water/wastewater systems
  • Lead field commissioning efforts, including I/O checkout, functional testing, and system startup
  • Troubleshoot real-time issues across automation hardware, software, and communication networks
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and end users to ensure smooth implementation and customer satisfaction
  • Provide field service and technical support post-installation as needed
  • Redline drawings, document commissioning activities, and support project closeout efforts

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Instrumentation, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in automation design, programming, startup, service, or commissioning roles
  • Proficiency in PLC/HMI/SCADA systems such as Rockwell (Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View), Siemens, Schneider, GE, VTScada, Ignition, etc.
  • Strong understanding of industrial networks: Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP, serial protocols, and wireless communications
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, single-line diagrams, and electrical schematics
  • Field-ready attitude, with excellent problem-solving skills and a commitment to safety
  • Comfortable working in industrial, municipal, or water/wastewater environments
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer service mindset
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel frequently
  • Preferred qualifications: Experience with GE iFIX, Schneider Unity/Control Expert, or Siemens TIA Portal, VFD startup certifications (ABB, Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, etc.), experience with instrument calibration and loop checks, OSHA 30 or other industrial safety training

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Instrumentation, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience

  • Knowledge of industry standards (UL508A, NEC, IEEE) to design and specify hardware and software for industrial control systems
  • Proficiency in PLC/HMI/SCADA systems such as Rockwell (Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View), Siemens, Schneider, GE, VTScada, Ignition, etc.
  • Strong understanding of industrial networks: Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP, serial protocols, and wireless communications
