About the role

Eaton’s Electrical Engineering Services & Systems Division (EESS) is currently seeking an Electrical Construction Quality Engineer (QA/QC).

Responsibilities

  • Lead quality control activities for EPC construction projects, ensuring compliance with project requirements, specifications, codes, and customer expectations.
  • Develop and maintain project quality documentation, including Quality Management Plans, inspection reports, test records, punch lists, and closeout packages.
  • Conduct field inspections, audits, and quality reviews to identify defects, non-conformances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Partner with project managers, construction managers, engineers, subcontractors, and customers to resolve quality issues and drive corrective actions.
  • Review drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and commissioning plans to verify constructability and quality requirements.
  • Manage third-party testing and inspection providers, including scope development and issue resolution.
  • Support factory witness testing, commissioning activities, and system turnover to ensure project requirements are met prior to energization.
  • Investigate equipment, installation, and warranty-related issues and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Deliver quality-related training and promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across project teams.
  • Travel to Eaton and customer sites as needed to support project execution, inspections, audits, and quality issue resolution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution OR a high school diploma/GED and ten (10) years of experience performing quality control and/or quality assurance activities on commercial electrical construction projects.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience performing quality control and/or quality assurance activities for commercial, industrial, utility, or mission-critical electrical construction projects.
  • Experience overseeing quality control activities for electrical installation, testing, commissioning, and energization of power distribution systems and equipment, including one or more of the following: substations, switchgear, transformers, MCCs, panelboards, protective relays, grounding systems, cabling, raceways, or control systems.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future.
  • Substantial field construction experience, including construction management and quality oversight.
  • Experience with electrical testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of power distribution systems, UPS, and battery energy storage systems.
  • Professional certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE), Master Electrician, Journeyman Electrician, NICET, Certified Electrical Inspector (CEI), ICC Electrical Inspector, CQM-C, ASQ, ACI, AWS/CWI, or similar.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction and First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Experience performing electrical, concrete, structural steel, and welding inspections.

Skills

  • Knowledge of electrical power distribution systems, including installation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Understanding of construction processes and quality requirements related to electrical, concrete, earthwork, structural steel, and general building construction.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NEC, NFPA, ASTM, ACI, AISC, AWS, ICC, ASME, USACE, FM Global, and ISO).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical one-line diagrams, schematics, construction drawings, and specifications.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and managing quality programs, inspections, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Pay

The expected annual salary range for this role is $97,000 - $143,000 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

Schedule

Travel to Eaton and customer sites as needed to support project execution, inspections, audits, and quality issue resolution.

Additional Information

JOB/PROJECT SCOPE AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Travel to district offices, customer locations and project job sites that can result in overnight travel up to 50-75%.
  • Flexible availability to accommodate project work schedules, outages, emergencies.
  • Ability to walk job sites, climb ladders, and inspect installations.
  • May require working in varying weather and site conditions.
