About the role

Take ownership of complex electrical bids where the details matter. This Electrical Construction Estimator will support commercial, industrial, and public-sector projects ranging from smaller change orders to multimillion-dollar contracts, managing the estimating process from initial opportunity review and site visits through takeoffs, vendor pricing, bid preparation, and project handoff.

Responsibilities

  • Review incoming bid opportunities and determine which projects align with the company’s capabilities, resources and growth strategy
  • Perform detailed electrical takeoffs and develop comprehensive estimates covering materials, labor, equipment, overhead and profit
  • Review drawings, specifications and prevailing wage requirements to identify project-specific costs, compliance requirements and potential risks
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes, confirm specification compliance and document pricing assumptions
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and required site visits to assess project conditions and gather information needed to develop accurate estimates
  • Prepare detailed bid packages and cost breakdowns for review with project managers, senior estimators and leadership
  • Support change-order pricing and prepare clear, client-ready cost documentation
  • Coordinate post-award handoffs with project managers, including reviewing estimates, vendor quotes, purchase requirements and supporting documentation
  • Maintain organized bid files, plans, specifications, and supporting documentation while helping prioritize a high volume of incoming opportunities
  • Participate in weekly bid meetings and collaborate with the team to identify and pursue the strongest project opportunities

Requirements

  • 2+ years of electrical construction estimating experience with an electrical subcontractor or equivalent electrical estimating experience within a closely related commercial construction trade
  • Strong understanding of commercial and industrial electrical construction; residential-only estimating experience will not qualify
  • Proven ability to read construction drawings, specifications and bid documents and translate them into accurate estimates
  • Experience preparing detailed bids, takeoffs, and material and labor cost calculations
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to efficiently organize, track and prioritize a high volume of bid opportunities
  • Ability to conduct local site visits and work effectively in an office-first, collaborative environment
  • Experience with prevailing wage, government, military, Army Corps, or other public-sector projects is highly preferred
