About the role

The Electrical CAD Drafter is responsible for drawing and detailing electrical components and complex electric assemblies using AutoCAD software. Working closely with Electrical Engineering, the ECAD Drafter produces accurate, manufacturable, and maintainable drawings, including system diagrams (schematics), wirelists, cable marking diagrams, and cable drawings with associated parts lists. This role ensures electrical components integrate seamlessly into overall designs by collaborating with Electrical Engineering and Mechanical CAD groups.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Electrical Engineering to produce AutoCAD system prints, cable drawings, and top-level electrical assemblies/installations in accordance with Government/Industry standards and Customer specifications.
• Generate Excel wirelists from system prints to aid manufacturing in wiring electronic assemblies.
• Provide support to manufacturing by resolving design and documentation issues during production phases.
• Document changes to electrical drawings by creating engineering change documents.
• Support Electrical Engineering with development of presentation materials for customer meetings, including requirement reviews, design reviews, and acceptance testing.
• Participate in customer events such as configuration audits.
• Collaborate with other ECAD drafters to develop comprehensive and cohesive electrical designs for systems including A/C and D/C power distribution, grounding, I/O distribution, networking, KVM, Emergency Power Off, Overheat, and Audio.

Requirements

• MID level: 3 to 7 years of experience; SENIOR level: 7+ years of experience.
• Knowledge and experience with simulators or the simulator industry is a strong plus.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD software.
• Knowledge of terminology, methods, practices, and techniques of electrical CAD modeling/drawing production software.
• Familiarity with engineering software such as Microsoft Windows, MS Office, and Excel.
• Skill in drafting complex engineering plans using CAD systems.
• Ability to prepare complex drawings and schematics from rough sketches or oral instructions.
• U.S. Citizenship required due to federal contractor obligations supporting the U.S. warfighter.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance.
• Must pass an initial background screening and pre-employment drug test; subject to random drug testing.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Engineering Technology supplemented by advanced coursework in engineering drafting, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• MID level: Equivalent experience to education and three years’ experience related to aircraft or flight simulations.
• SENIOR level: Equivalent experience to education and seven years’ experience related to aircraft or flight simulation.

Schedule

• Occasional overtime and alternate shifts may be required to meet customer schedules, critical deadlines, or program milestones.
• Must be able and willing to travel up to 10% domestically and, on occasion, internationally to customer sites, partner locations, or project meetings.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform normal office duties, including sitting for long periods at a desk or during meetings.
