About the role

Bring Electrical Designs to Life Before Construction Begins. We’re looking for an experienced Electrical BIM Designer to join an established electrical contracting team supporting complex commercial and industrial construction projects throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area. This isn't a position focused solely on creating 3D models. We're looking for someone who understands how electrical systems are actually installed in the field and can translate construction plans into accurate, coordinated, and buildable designs. Our client offers the stability of a long-established electrical contractor, a collaborative team environment, and the opportunity to work directly with the people bringing your designs to life. One of the biggest advantages? Your health insurance is 100% covered for both you and your family.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and coordinate detailed electrical BIM models using Autodesk Revit and Navisworks.
  • Model electrical distribution systems, conduit routing, cable trays, equipment layouts, and other electrical infrastructure.
  • Perform clash detection and resolve coordination issues with mechanical, plumbing, structural, and other construction trades.
  • Produce accurate electrical shop drawings, installation layouts, and construction documentation.
  • Collaborate directly with project managers, field supervisors, and electrical construction teams to ensure designs are practical and buildable.
  • Review architectural, structural, and engineering drawings to identify conflicts before they impact construction.
  • Support BIM coordination meetings and incorporate design revisions throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Help improve modeling workflows, design accuracy, and overall project efficiency.

Requirements

  • Electrical contracting experience is essential for this position.
  • 2+ years of professional BIM modeling or design experience within an electrical contracting environment.
  • Hands-on proficiency with Autodesk Revit and Navisworks.
  • Experience developing electrical models for commercial, industrial, or large-scale construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, construction sequencing, and installation requirements.
  • Experience with clash detection, trade coordination, and construction documentation.
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and construction plans.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with both office and field teams.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and independent problem-solving abilities.
  • Note: Candidates whose experience is exclusively in architectural, structural, or mechanical BIM modeling without electrical contracting experience may not meet the requirements for this position.

Benefits

  • 100% employer-paid health insurance for employees and their families.

Pay

$70,000–$90,000 annually, depending on experience.
