On-siteFull-time

About the Role

ENETK, part of Kelso Industries with 3,500+ employees across 29 operating companies, delivers top HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, refrigeration, and electrical solutions nationwide. The Electrical AutoCAD Drafter produces and maintains accurate electrical drawings in support of PLC control panel design, fabrication, and field installation. The primary responsibility is completing electrical red-line revisions (as-builts) and creating and updating PLC control panel drawing packages, including schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and bills of material.

Responsibilities

  • Complete electrical red-line markups (as-built revisions) from engineers, panel builders, and field technicians, and incorporate them accurately into AutoCAD drawing packages.
  • Create and revise PLC control panel drawing sets, including electrical schematics, panel layout/arrangement drawings, wiring and interconnect diagrams, and terminal block details.
  • Transpose manufacturer instructions, engineering notes, and UL label requirements (e.g., UL 508A ratings, SCCR, voltage/amperage, enclosure type) onto AutoCAD drawings accurately and legibly.
  • Learn and become proficient with the components typically used in control panels — PLCs and I/O, power supplies, circuit breakers and fusing, relays, motor starters/VFDs, terminal blocks, enclosures, and wire/cable types — and represent them correctly in drawings and bills of material.
  • Develop and maintain bills of material (BOMs) that match the drawing set and the parts installed in the panel.
  • Maintain drawing standards, title blocks, symbol libraries, and revision control; log and track drawing revisions per company procedures.
  • Verify drawings against physical panels in the shop when needed, coordinating with panel builders and QA/QC to resolve discrepancies before release.
  • Generate wire and device label/tag lists from drawings for use in panel fabrication.
  • Print, assemble, and issue drawing packages for panel shop builds, customer submittals, and field installation.
  • Support engineers and project managers with miscellaneous drafting tasks, including loop sheets, network diagrams, and site electrical drawings as assigned.
  • Occasional site visits to customer facilities to gather field information, verify existing installations, and support as-built documentation.
  • May include learning automation field work (instrumentation, panel installation support, I/O checkout, and related tasks) during slower drafting or estimation periods.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (AutoCAD Electrical experience preferred).
  • Basic understanding of electrical wiring, circuits, and electrical schematics, or a demonstrated ability and willingness to learn quickly.
  • Ability to read and interpret red-line markups, manufacturer datasheets, and installation instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy; drawings must match the panel as built.
  • Ability to manage multiple drawing packages and meet project deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication with engineers, panel builders, and project managers.
  • High school diploma or GED required; drafting/CAD certificate, technical degree, or equivalent experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience drafting industrial control panels or working in a UL 508A panel shop.
  • Familiarity with UL 508A labeling and documentation requirements.
  • Familiarity with PLC/automation hardware (Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley a plus).
  • Experience with revision control and engineering document management.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment with regular time in the panel shop to verify drawings against physical panels; may include occasional travel to customer sites.
  • Field work, when assigned, may involve industrial plant environments requiring appropriate PPE and adherence to customer site safety requirements.
  • Must be able to sit at a workstation for extended periods and occasionally stand, bend, and reach while inspecting panels.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs (drawing packages, small components, enclosure doors).
  • Must follow all shop safety policies, including PPE requirements when in the panel shop.

Growth Path

This position is expected to grow with experience. As the Drafter becomes proficient with standard components, drawing packages, and UL requirements, responsibilities may expand into panel design support, BOM/quoting assistance, and checking drawings produced by others.

Benefits

We proactively provide competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and clear pathways for career advancement with autonomy and flexibility in an entrepreneurial environment. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment.
