Electrical Apprentice

About the role

Southern Home Services, a residential HVAC, plumbing, and electrical company, is seeking an Electrical Apprentice. The apprentice will assist in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, support experienced electricians, learn and apply electrical techniques, follow safety protocols, and troubleshoot issues. This role is ideal for someone eager to gain hands‑on experience and develop technical skills in the electrical field.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the installation of electrical systems by assembling and wiring service panels, and installing switches, outlets, light fixtures, ceiling fans, and generator systems.
• Work in a range of environments, including hot, cold, and confined spaces, while adhering to safety protocols.
• Load and unload tools, equipment, and materials from trucks, ensuring everything is organized and ready for use.
• Demonstrate punctuality, a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic, contributing to a productive team environment.
• Learn and apply electrical techniques under the guidance of experienced electricians, developing skills and knowledge in the trade.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving experience (excluding learner’s permit).
• Positive attitude and strong commitment to delivering high‑quality work.
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to interact effectively with individuals at all organizational levels.
• Adaptability, flexibility, and innovation as a team player.
• Strong troubleshooting and critical‑thinking abilities.
• Basic understanding of using a PC and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with phones, tablets, and email.
• Ability to read and write effectively for clear communication and comprehension of job‑related materials.

Preferred Qualifications

• Electrical experience (not required).

Physical Requirements

• Lift 50 lb regularly and up to 100 lb occasionally.
• Climb ladders, access attics, navigate tight spaces, drive, enter crawlspaces, push, carry, pull, use hand tools, and perform fine‑detail work.
• Work in various indoor and outdoor environments, including attics and crawlspaces.
• Stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear both in person and by telephone.
• Use hands to handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms.
• Regularly stoop, kneel, bend, and crouch.
• Exposure to extreme temperatures and adverse weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain, ice, snow).
