Electrical and Mechanical Technician
About the role
Flint Hills Resources (FHR) is seeking an Electrical and Mechanical Technician to support operations in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area. This role involves the specification, installation, testing, and repair of all types of equipment used in refined products pipeline operations. Additional responsibilities include supporting instrumentation, electronic equipment, and mechanical rotating equipment maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Making sound economic decisions, ensuring incident prevention, driving predictable execution, and achieving competitive results
- Effectively communicating with others, being receptive to feedback, and understanding customer relationships
- Understanding and developing relationships with both internal and external customers
- Working independently or as part of a team, performing tasks such as measurements, regulatory equipment inspections, and various operational duties
- Supporting daily pipeline and terminal operations
Requirements
- Strong computer skills
- Solid verbal and written communication skills
- General mechanical and electrical capabilities
Qualifications
- Work experience with industrial and electronic equipment, including motors, valves, actuators, meters, transmitters, pumps, and valves
- Experience with mechanical/electrical troubleshooting, including understanding and interpreting electrical and P&ID drawings and schematics
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and utilize Personal Protective Equipment
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team, and perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, bending, twisting, climbing, and balancing
- Ability to respond to audio alarms and other loud noises indicating safety concerns
Skills
- Two (2) year technical degree in Mechanical or Electrical/Instrumentation disciplines
- Five (5) years or more of work experience with industrial and mechanical/electronic equipment
- One (1) year or more of work experience with multi-stage pumps, electrical starters, switch gear, and VFDs
- One (1) year or more of work experience with pipeline measurement including proving, maintaining, and troubleshooting flow meters
- Ability to understand and apply the National Electrical Code
