About the role
The Electric Utilities Group Leader position is within SEH, an employee-owned engineering firm focused on delivering solutions to complex challenges. This role is critical in building, leading, and scaling SEH’s electric utilities business across the Midwest.
Responsibilities
Build the Business
- Develop and execute a 3-year growth plan
- Identify and prioritize new service lines: Distribution engineering, Substation engineering and planning, Transmission engineering (planning, line design, reconductoring, rebuilds)
- Establish a clear roadmap for capability expansion
- Leverage existing relationships or build new ones
- Position SEH as a trusted partner to utilities
Drive Revenue Growth
- Lead or support business development efforts
Build & Lead a Team
- Create clarity around roles, expectations, and performance
- Foster a culture of accountability and ownership
- Recruit, develop, and lead a scalable team structure
Integrate Within SEH
- Collaborate with the Mechanical/Electrical practice and broader teams
- Align with SEH’s operational model (utilization, project delivery, etc.)
- Translate strategy into measurable execution
Requirements
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
- Experience in electric utilities (distribution and/or substation preferred) or experience leading or scaling multi-discipline utility engineering teams
- Experience with PLS-CADD, CYME, ETAP, etc., and physical layout standards (IEEE, NESC, RUS)
- Minimum of 10+ years' experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Qualifications
- Experience in consulting engineering or utility operations/engineering
- Direct experience working with: Municipal utilities, Electric cooperatives, Investor-owned utilities
- Demonstrated leadership experience (formal or informal)

Benefits
SEH offers a comprehensive benefits package including base compensation in the range of $125,000 to $175,000, depending on skill set and experience. Other benefits include:

Pay
Base compensation is expected to be in the range of $125,000 and $175,000 based on skill set and experience.
