$82k–$106k/yrFull-time

Dominion Energy is committed to providing reliable, affordable, and increasingly clean energy that powers our customers every day. We’re looking for purpose-driven professionals who value safety and collaboration to join our team and build a career.

We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate flexibility. Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience, will be considered for this opportunity.

About the Role

Dominion Energy Virginia’s Electric Transmission (ET) departments are seeking motivated, engaged engineers to fill several vacancies. Electric Transmission is responsible for the long-term planning, engineering, construction, and operations of the high-voltage electric grid system (69kV to 500kV). The grid transmits electricity from state-of-the-art solar and wind facilities, integrates these technologies into the energy portfolio, and delivers power to 2.7 million customers, including the world’s largest cluster of internet data centers.

This is an exciting time to join our team as we work on industry-leading projects and initiatives, such as:

  • Interconnecting 5,000 MW of solar generation in the next 5 years
  • The first utility-owned offshore wind project in U.S. federal waters off the Atlantic coast
  • Virtual digital protection conversions
  • Supporting the largest data center load growth in the world
  • Achieving our net-zero carbon emissions goal by 2050

Our organization seeks talented professionals passionate about engineering, technology, data analytics, and innovation. Team members play a key role in supporting operational excellence and improving the reliability and efficiency of our electric transmission and distribution systems.

Departments involved include, but are not limited to:

  • ET Engineering Standards – System Protection Standards: Develop, maintain, and support system-wide standards for transmission and distribution system protection, communications, metering, and control applications. Provide expert technical support for protection and control standard designs. Evaluate and recommend new products, applications, and methods to improve safety, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Transmission Engineering Standards: Develop engineering standard drawings and design requirements for transmission lines, including towers, engineered poles, conductors, and static assemblies. Responsible for training design engineers, equipment vendor selection, and engaging with industry forums (IEEE, SEE, CIGRE, EPRI, etc.).
  • Substation Engineering Standards: Develop engineering standard drawings and design requirements for substation equipment, including circuit breakers, instrument transformers, power transformers, and miscellaneous yard components. Responsible for training design engineers, standard material vendor selection, and engaging with industry forums (IEEE, SEE, CIGRE, EPRI, etc.).
  • Emerging Technologies & Innovation Standards – Innovation Services (SIS): Develop modern solutions to support the Electric Transmission Organization in delivering electricity safely, reliably, and efficiently. Focus areas include workflow optimization, process modernization, and configuring/developing forward-thinking global solutions (e.g., Intelligent Design Suite, Digital Twin, work management systems, supply chain standard material process and tool modernization). Engages with industry forums (IEEE, SEE, AutoDesk University, SDSIC, etc.).
  • ET Substation Operations Support Team – Substation SAP: Supports planning, management, and optimization of substation assets using enterprise systems and data. Tracks the life cycle of substation equipment, supports capital and maintenance programs, ensures data integrity, and provides insights for informed business decisions.
  • Substation Equipment Monitoring: Uses data, technology, and engineering expertise to assess the health and performance of critical substation assets. Analyzes equipment condition, trends, and operational data to improve system reliability, reduce risk, and support proactive maintenance strategies.
  • Digital Solutions: Develops innovative tools, automation solutions, and reporting platforms to improve business processes and enhance decision-making. Combines programming, data visualization, workflow automation, and citizen development practices to deliver efficient, scalable solutions.
