Job Responsibilities
- Setting and removing meters
- Supporting field collection activities
- Installation of new services
- Maintaining the distribution system
- Performing distribution and transmission switching
- Restoration of service
- Adhering to all compliance requirements
- Supporting marketing efforts
Job Requirements
- Experience in providing electric service to new and existing customers
- Knowledge of distribution construction, operation, and maintenance
- Knowledge of substation and transmission operations (preferred)
- Basic computer skills and ability to develop computer skills with ARMS, DISTGIS, Microsoft XP Office Products, and other software applications as required
- Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with customers and employees
- Ability to work alone most of the time and be committed to safety and highly self-motivated
- The ability to stay abreast of all process and procedural changes as they relate to local operations
- The ability to work with customers and fellow employees to solve problems
- Pass or have passed the Construction and Skills Trade Test (CAST) in order to be considered
- Valid Mississippi Commercial Drivers license within 6 months of employment
- Maintain weight to comply with equipment manufacturer's restrictions
- Live within 30 minutes of the service center or willing to relocate within 30 minutes within 6 months of starting the job
- Available for after-hours call out and overnight travel as needed
- Experience working as a trouble shooter and as a first responder to trouble after hours (highly preferred)
- At least 5 years experience in line construction
- Possess a basic knowledge of all functional areas of Customer Services
- Exhibit working knowledge of distribution, substation, and transmission operations
Qualifications
- Must pass or have passed the Construction and Skills Trade Test (CAST) in order to be considered
- Must currently have or possess the ability to obtain a valid Mississippi Commercial Drivers license within 6 months of employment
