General Summary
We are looking for a full-time Electric Motor Winder to join our IBEW Local 1 shop. Relocation assistance is available.
Job Functions
- Electromechanical Equipment Identification and External Data Collection and Diagnosis
- Determine and document correct external data associated with the equipment or winding.
- Diagnose and/or test existing equipment for malfunctions, failures, or damage if present.
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment such as meggar, hi pot, AC or DC test panels or related equipment.
- Dismantle, Internal Data Collection
- Ability to disassemble identified equipment.
- Correct cut and burn of electrical winding.
- Identify and document internal winding data.
- Convert internal winding data as applicable per EASA guidelines.
- Core Testing and Repair
- Utilizing available core test equipment and programs to determine core viability and proper heat dispersion.
- Able to use proper tools to repair or modify existing core to meet test criteria.
- Insulating, Rewinding, and Connecting
- Responsible for correct insulation of core and component parts applicable to the equipment.
- Responsible for correct wire insertion, wedging, tying of winding or wire.
- Utilizing correct connection sequence including equipment necessary for final soldering, brazing or welding of internal coil leads to exterior leads.
- Able to tie and proof end clearance of finished winding.
- Testing and Varnish Application
- Responsible for final electrical, mechanical or quality testing of winding, insulation and connections including documentation of all results.
- Upon successful post winding test procedure apply the necessary fit, thread and identification coating to allow the correct insulating varnish application.
- Dip and bake of winding.
- Clean up of coated fits, threads and identification plates of dip and baked winding.
- Final testing and documentation, if applicable.
Experience
- Motor Winding: 3 years required
- Electric Motor Repair: 3 years required.
