Key Responsibilities
- Perform work on a wide range of motor types (synchronous, induction, servo, etc.)
- Perform basic inspection and measurement of electric motors
- Recognize types of electric motors (AC, DC, single-phase, three-phase) and identify their parts
- Operate shop power and test equipment
- Follow supervisor instructions, work steadily until each project is complete, and keep the supervisor informed of job status
- Learn to provide a high level of service by responding to needs and working to satisfy expectations
- Learn EASA standards and what it means to be an EASA-certified shop
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn and improve
- Learn electric motor purposes, components, functions, and terminology
- Learn to identify common equipment failure causes
- Learn the division’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Understand the importance and reasoning behind safety protocols, best practices, troubleshooting methods, and quality standards
- Observe equipment, learn to identify potential hazards, and assist in making necessary adjustments
- Learn company-specific software
- Help plan and modify repairs to minimize material waste and ensure accessibility for future maintenance
- Understand the importance and reasoning behind best practices such as consistency, safety, quality, and efficiency
Qualifications
- Experience with electric motors or field service is preferred
- Experience as a mechanic, in construction, or in a related field service job is preferred
- Must possess basic computer and math skills
- Must have strong problem-solving abilities and mechanical aptitude
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check
- Must be able to work 40 hours per week (excluding holidays and PTO) on a regular basis
- Must be available to work additional hours as needed; overtime is anticipated
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift heavy components up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, push, pull, crouch, and kneel for extended periods.
Work Environment
- Working indoors in a shop environment with exposure to mechanical, electrical, and environmental hazards and varying temperatures
- The work area may be very noisy and may require ear protection
- Travel is not anticipated for this position
