Duties & Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain high academic expectations for all students.
  • Follow the District's curriculum for all subjects to prepare students to meet grade level Common Core Standards.
  • Teach the science curriculum 6-8.
  • Collaborate with grade level team members and support teachers in planning lessons, monitoring student progress, analyzing data, modifying, and differentiating instruction as needed.
  • Maintain up to date progress monitoring and academic diagnostics.
  • Aid in the development of Career Institute academies.
  • Utilize the MTSS process to support students both academically and behaviorally.
  • Integrate technology into lessons and have a working knowledge of Microsoft, Google Suite, Chrome books, tablets, etc.
  • Implement effective research-based strategies: Differentiated Instruction, Think Alouds, QAR, Explicit Instruction, etc.
  • Communicate with parents on a consistent basis regarding student progress and encourage parental involvement.
  • Perform supervision responsibilities with a belief that all teachers are on duty at all times everywhere in the school environment including AM/PM outside duty, hall duties, lunch/recess duty by following the building PBIS procedures and expectations.
  • Participate in IEP's, MTSS meetings, Collaborative Teacher Teams, Committees, and parent conferences.
  • Be an active participant in building level professional development focused on MTSS, Character Strong, CHAMPS, PBIS, Collaborative Teacher Teams, effective interventions, and incorporate strategies in the classroom.
  • Willingness to obtain training in areas that are in need of being nurtured.
  • Knowledge of Common Core standards for Math and Science.
  • Assist and support in the delivery of standards-based pre-engineering curriculum to students.
  • Successfully experience in teaching with a strong emphasis on collaboration and Problem-based learning strategies.
  • Implement district and building initiatives.
  • Demonstrate effective communication with students, parents, staff, and community members.
  • Able to implement a variety of instructional strategies to meet the needs of diverse learning communities.
  • Establish a positive learning environment and maintain a positive rapport with students and parents.
  • Other duties as assigned by administrator.

Special Qualification Desired

  • Able to work as a team member.
  • Willing to be involved in extended day learning activities for students and families.
  • Value the diversity of students and reflect this in teaching and disciplinary strategies which emphasize high expectations for student performance.
  • Familiar with Unbound Education Curriculum Resources.
