ELECTIONS WORKER (Extra-Help)

About the role

The Fresno County Clerk - Elections Office temporarily employs Elections Workers (Extra-Help) to assist with increased workload during election periods, which can run March through June and September through November. Incumbents support the public with voter‑ballot inquiries, perform data entry, resolve electronic record issues, operate ballot extraction machines, and may also help with translation of voting information, deliver and retrieve ballot boxes, clean and inventory election materials, and survey polling places.

Responsibilities

• Assist the public with inquiries related to voter ballots and the voting process
• Perform data entry of voting information
• Process and/or resolve electronic record issues
• Operate extraction machines to open and extract ballots for processing
• Perform other duties as required
• Assist with translation of voting information (some positions)
• Operate a motor vehicle to deliver and retrieve ballot boxes and vote center supplies (some positions)
• Clean and inventory election materials (some positions)
• Survey polling places (some positions)

Requirements

• Meet one of the following minimum qualifications:
  • Six (6) months of full‑time paid or volunteer public contact work experience; OR
  • Possession of a United States high school diploma, GED, or equivalent; OR
  • Current enrollment as a student in a secondary educational institution, at least 16 years of age, in good academic standing with a GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
• Depending on assignment, possession of a valid Class “C” driver’s license (or equivalent) may be required.
• Per California Elections Code Section 12302, an Elections Worker assigned to a precinct board must be a registered voter of the state, or meet the qualifications of a pupil or nonvoter as specified.

Pay

Incumbents are paid an hourly rate for actual hours worked.

Applicants must be willing and able to work from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm October 31, 2026 through November 2, 2026, and from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm or later on November 3, 2026 (Election Day).
