Schedule/Calendar
- Secondary: 7 hours/day 35 hours/week 183 days/year
Essential Functions
- Provides students with introductory, supportive and/or supplemental instruction, and remediation and/or reinforcement of English language skills under the direction of the English Language Development (ELD) teacher (previously known as ESL teacher)
- Confers regularly with the classroom teacher to share student progress and to plan for future needs
- Works with the classroom teacher to provide ESL students with accommodations and modifications to the regular classroom curricula
- Helps train new ELD personnel in daily responsibilities
- Helps administer classroom or district-level tests
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor
Education And/or Certification Required
- Associate's degree or 2 years of higher education
- Teaching or teaching assistant experience preferred
Experience Needed
- Experience working with children and/or young adults

- Ability to communicate the English language to students who speak English as a second language
- Ability to work with a range of diverse personalities
- Ability to work in a variety of working conditions
- Ability to help bridge the communication gap between parents, students, and the school
- Ability to motivate students to work independently
- Ability to support a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion
