ELA Teacher (9-12)

Our Mission: The Charter School for Applied Technologies prepares students to attain family-sustaining careers by integrating career exploration and a lifelong learning culture. CSAT opened in 2001 as a 700-student school serving grades K-6. Today, it is a campus of three buildings (Elementary, Middle, and High Schools) hosting approximately 2,300 students from 19 districts across Western New York.

About the role

The CSAT teacher communicates knowledge to students in an interesting, stimulating, and effective manner using diverse instructional methodologies and curriculum resources. As a team member, you will share planning, professional development, curriculum design, and teaching responsibilities. The role involves administering student assessments, communicating progress to parents, and planning further instruction. Teachers reflect on their practice, mentor team members, and integrate technology into teaching and professional activities.

Responsibilities

• Implement school and district policies and procedures, and CSAT performance standards.
• Collaborate with the team on curriculum and student needs, including ongoing communication with parents.
• Develop and implement curriculum, integrating technology into instruction and professional use.
• Act as a coach/mentor to other teachers in areas of personal expertise.
• Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse student populations.
• Establish student-directed classrooms where students work independently and in groups.
• Develop and use rubrics for instruction and assessment.
• Learn and apply new technology tools for instruction, planning, and communication.
• Create and manage a responsive learning environment where students feel safe and creative.
• Write, implement, and evaluate your own professional development plans.
• Foster family-school relationships to support academic and social development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Education with completed student teaching experiences.
• At least two years of classroom experience with a satisfactory rating.
• Three positive professional recommendations.
• Strong background in classroom instruction and pedagogical skills.
• Experience with Professional Learning Communities (PLC) model.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills; highly organized and independent.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Qualifications

Required certification type(s): English Language Arts 5-12 (5013), English 7-12 (5100), English 7-9 Extension (4060), or English 7-12 with 5-6 Extension (5425). Proof of certification required.

Pay

Competitive salary range: $43,000 – $55,000.

Permanent, full-time position starting as soon as possible. Itinerant location: High School.
