ELA/Literacy Specialist HS

About the Role

The Global Concepts Charter School is seeking an ELA/Literacy Specialist for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will exhibit theoretical and research-based knowledge of language acquisition and child development, assisting teachers in recognizing and responding to the diverse needs of our students. They will play a key role in implementing a balanced approach to literacy instruction, providing professional development, and supporting school-wide literacy initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in utilizing ongoing, instructionally based assessment approaches to inform and differentiate instruction.
• Research, teach, and model best practices to address the needs of students struggling with reading and writing.
• Help implement a balanced approach of direct teaching using authentic, literature-based reading and writing opportunities.
• Work with teachers and administrators to develop and use appropriate literacy strategies, implementation plans, and assessment tools.
• Assist with school-wide literacy initiatives.
• Provide ongoing professional development to staff.
• Offer constructive feedback to teachers on their approach and instruction in reading and writing.
• Demonstrate instructional leadership and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Certification in ELA/Literacy Grades 5-12 (English Language Arts 7-12 {5013} and Literacy Grades 5-12 {7062}).

Pay

Salary ranges from $35,875 to $54,425, based on certification and experience:

• Bachelor's degree: $35,875–$38,633
• Master's degree: $42,210–$55,925

Additional Information

Position is full-time, annual contract, starting ASAP. Itinerant location at the High School.
