Position Summary and Responsibilities

  • Cook up language proficiency screenings and state ELL assessments, ensuring compliance with state timelines.
  • Participate in organizing and administering state testing.
  • Engage in professional development trainings pertinent to ELL requirements.
  • Support the instructional program via asynchronous web conferencing and synchronous instruction, offering curriculum support and strategies for ELL students.
  • Become proficient with supplemental programs to aid English Language Learners in the virtual setting, interpreting data within these programs.
  • Inspect curriculum and devise alternative lesson presentation methods to enhance student comprehension (working closely with students and parents).
  • Regularly communicate with parents, students, and certified content area teachers, developing and updating LEP plans, scoring assessments, providing feedback on student work, suggesting instructional approaches and strategies, monitoring assignment completion, and coaching special projects.
  • Collaborate with other teachers to ensure all students are progressing through the program, that parents have a central point of contact, and that tasks are distributed among the teachers.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the entire program’s K-12 curriculum.
  • Support students and parents with alternate strategies for ELL students.
  • Regularly communicate with parents, students, and certified content area teachers using computer and telephone.
  • Keep student records and data updated, including cumulative files, online student and family information, attendance accounting, and logging all student and parent contacts.
  • Attend field trips and other community activities implemented for families.
  • Create and maintain a “school community” using virtual methods.
  • Collaborate with the Special Populations manager and team to ensure students and families are receiving appropriate communications, students are making adequate progress, and established goals are being met.
  • Participate in professional development sessions and associated activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Requirements

    • Oregon Teacher Certification with ESL/ESOL endorsement.
    • Experience directly teaching ELL students preferred.
    • Bilingual preferred.
    • Strong technology skills (especially with Microsoft Office products and Google Suite).
    • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
    • Highly organized and punctual.
    • Customer-focused approach.
    • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
    • Team player track record.
    • Willingness to travel for marketing and state testing events (may require occasional overnight travel).
    • Able to work some occasional evening hours, as needed to support some families.
    • Able to work remotely.
    • Must be able to use a personal electronic device and an email address for two-step authentication.
