EL Teacher - 195 Day
Job Summary
This position accelerates the learning or acquisition of English for English language learners (ELLs) and the academic content of math, language arts, science, and social studies in order for LEP students to achieve passing classroom expectations, passing SOL scores, and meet graduation requirements. This position provides cross-cultural information about the American school system and being a student in an American school for LEP students. This position serves as a liaison between the LEP student and all his/her classroom teachers and their families and the school. This position implements all ESOL program procedures in order to be in compliance with legal responsibilities. This position provides leadership and consultation as the second language expert/specialist to all staff in a school.
Responsibilities
- Accelerate the learning or acquisition of English for ELLs and academic content for LEP students
- Provide cross-cultural information about the American school system and being a student in an American school
- Serve as a liaison between LEP students and their classroom teachers and families
- Implement all ESOL program procedures to ensure compliance with legal responsibilities
- Provide leadership and consultation as the second language expert/specialist to all staff
Qualifications
- Master's degree in TESOL, ESL, or related field
- Experience working with English Language Learners (ELLs)
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding ELLs
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
Skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of data analysis tools
