EL Teacher - 195 Day
About the Role
This position accelerates the learning or acquisition of English for English language learners (ELLs) and supports the academic content of math, language arts, science, and social studies. The goal is to help LEP (Limited English Proficient) students achieve passing classroom expectations, meet SOL (Standards of Learning) score requirements, and fulfill graduation criteria.
Additionally, this role provides cross-cultural information about the American school system and student life in U.S. schools for LEP students. It serves as a liaison between LEP students, their classroom teachers, families, and the school, ensuring effective communication and support.
The position implements all ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) program procedures to maintain compliance with legal responsibilities. It also provides leadership and consultation as the second language expert/specialist to all school staff.
