eICU Nurse/UKHC

About the Role

The eICU nurse (Registered Nurse – RN) is a member of a collaborative care team responsible for providing continuous vigilance and tele-nursing care focusing on early intervention to a population of critically ill adults across multiple ICUs at various hospitals. The goal is to decrease ICU-related morbidity and mortality through patient advocacy, proactive monitoring, prevention, evidence-based care, telecommunication, clinical decision support, and humane, compassionate ethical care.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous tele-nursing care to critically ill adults across multiple ICUs.
• Focus on early intervention to reduce ICU-related morbidity and mortality.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals using effective communication.
• Utilize clinical decision support tools and evidence-based practices.

Requirements

• Active Kentucky or compact state Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
• ADN (Associate Degree in Nursing) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• 3 years of adult critical care experience (5 years preferred).
• NIHSS Certification (required before starting).
• CCRN certification or eCCRN (within 12 months of hiring).
• Current BLS-Provider and ACLS-Provider course completion.
• Two or more years of experience in a clinical role requiring collaboration with healthcare professionals (e.g., Charge role, DCN, CNE, Team Lead).

Skills

• Proficient in telecommunication and clinical decision support tools.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to provide humane, compassionate, and ethical care.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds daily and 25-50 pounds frequently.
• Ability to stand, walk, and sit for long periods.
• Potential exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments.

Schedule

• Three 12-hour shifts per week (6:00 PM – 6:00 AM).
• Weekends and holidays required.

Pay

$28.00 - $39.10 per hour.
