EHS Specialist (Mitsubishi Chemical Advanced Materials)
About the role
We are seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to champion safety, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement at our Libertyville manufacturing facility.
Responsibilities
- Foster a culture of safety and environmental stewardship by implementing corporate EHS programs and best practices
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives that enhance workplace safety, environmental performance, and operational excellence
- Partner with leaders to strengthen employee engagement and accountability around EHS initiatives
- Serve as the site subject matter expert for federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, and corporate standards
- Build and maintain strong relationships with regulatory agencies and external partners
- Manage environmental permits and ensure ongoing compliance with permitting requirements
- Own and maintain the site's RC14001 Management System
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS policies, procedures, and management systems
- Lead site EHS committees and facilitate employee participation in safety initiatives
- Conduct audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented to drive continuous improvement
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation
- Coach leaders on safety accountability and behavioral-based safety practices
- Manage employee EHS training programs to ensure required certifications and compliance are maintained
- Support Management of Change (MOC) and project stage-gate reviews to ensure EHS requirements are integrated into operational changes
- Develop and monitor site safety, health, environmental, security, and sustainability objectives
- Lead industrial hygiene activities and exposure monitoring programs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate workplace hazards
- Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and compliance records
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field
- Minimum of 3–5 years of Environmental, Health & Safety experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental compliance, and EHS management systems
- Experience leading incident investigations, audits, and corrective action programs
- Familiarity with RC14001 or similar environmental management systems preferred
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Benefits
The salary range for this position is $64,896 - $81,120 USD Annual. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
Pay
The estimated annual salary for this position is $107,242 USD.
