EHS Specialist

Description

This position primarily provides Environment, Heath, and Safety (EHS) support for MD&A Customer projects, but when unassigned, will also include completing safety walk-downs or evaluations at other outages or shops, and assisting with training and other safety projects company-wide. Requires time away from home for up to 8 months. This position reports to the MD&A Outage Services EHS Manager.

Project Support

• Facilitate proper implementation of customer requirements, MD&A Outage Safety Expectations, and the project specific safety plan
• Effectively and professionally coordinate and communicate with customer EHS representation and customer site POC
• Observe the progression of the project, identify and eliminate, when possible, any present or future hazards, either to the workers or property in order to achieve a zero accident/incident rate
• Absorb and assist with on-boarding project personnel including sub-contractors; facilitate MD&A/Customer drug testing requirements
• Absorb and assist with effective implementation or Pre-Task briefs and Task Safety Briefings
• Administer/conduct and record weekly safety evaluations
• Investigate all incident reports
• Treat and report any first aids
• Monitor and authorize confined space entries
• Conduct safety training for employees when needed, including overhead crane and forklift qualifications
• Attend customer safety meetings
• Attend customer pre-project meetings when required

Other

• Conducts Instructor led safety courses during training events
• Assists with MD&A fixed location EHS evaluations
• Assists with evaluations and inspections of MD&A Projects and facilities
• Assists with incident investigations, corrective action development and completion

Requirements

• Minimum Qualifications/Requirements: 5+ years of experience in construction safety
• CHST or the ability to obtain the CHST in the first 90 days of employment
• Knowledge of complicated rigging, scaffolding, confined space entry, mechanical systems, and industrial tooling
• Prioritize too or knowledge of Human and Organization Performance improvement. Continuous improvement mindset
• Knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
