EHS Specialist

Global Power Components is a privately held, growing manufacturer of UL heavy gauge steel fuel tanks, trailers, large generator enclosures, and modular metal enclosures for housing fully equipped electrical distribution and control equipment. We produce weld assemblies, fabricated metal buildings, and large complex assemblies of power equipment.

About the role

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist supports Global Power Components’ commitment to providing a safe, compliant, and high-performing manufacturing environment. This role enhances safety and environmental processes across our large-scale fabrication and assembly operations, requiring close collaboration with management and departmental leaders to develop safety protocols, conduct hazard assessments, and promote a culture of safety.

Responsibilities

• Conduct safety audits to identify and minimize safety hazards in the workplace.
• Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Conduct safety training for employees and management on various safety topics and best practices tailored to organizational needs, including new-hire training, annual requirements, and job-specific procedures.
• Lead incident investigations to determine root causes and make recommendations for corrective actions.
• Manage programs such as lockout/tagout, confined space, respiratory protection, hearing conservation, hazard communication, and powered industrial truck (PIT) safety.
• Collaborate with the Safety Committee, lead employee meetings, and promote safety awareness to encourage employee engagement.
• Oversee emergency response planning, evacuation protocols, fire drills, and emergency lighting.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or equivalent years of experience.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience in a similar role, particularly within manufacturing.
• Knowledge of industry-specific safety and environmental (OSHA, EPA) standards at local, state, and federal levels.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and safety management software.
• Willingness and ability to work all shifts, including weekends, when required.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accurate records and generate comprehensive reports.
• Bilingual communication ability is preferred but not required.

Location: Milwaukee, WI (onsite 5 days per week)
