About the Role

The EHS Manager is responsible for Safety and Environmental programs and compliance with all government regulations. This role requires a perceptive individual capable of engaging with all levels of the organization while balancing corporate needs, employee well-being, and business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Workers Compensation program.
  • Maintain the OSHA 300 log.
  • Ensure safety and environmental compliance for regulations including OSHA, RCRA, TSCA, CERCLA, Clean Water Act, Air Pollution Control, NPDES, CFC, and EPCRA.
  • Conduct facility audits for compliance with company and governmental regulations.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and develop recommendations.
  • Oversee Hazard Communication and maintain MSDSs.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety management systems to reduce incidents and raise safety awareness.
  • Review and maintain daily activity reports for compliance with operational regulations.
  • Handle environmental permitting and reporting as required by Federal and State regulations.
  • Develop procedures for special situations and activities.
  • Recommend compliance strategies for OSHA regulations.
  • Develop and maintain regulatory compliance policies, Emergency Action Plans, and Emergency Preparedness Training.
  • Conduct periodic audits of emergency equipment and fire suppression systems.
  • Organize and lead Emergency Evacuation Drills.
  • Escort Federal, State, and Local agency representatives during facility audits.
  • Research, plan, and conduct training programs, seminars, and conferences on safety and environmental topics.
  • Maintain training documents for record-keeping and ISO compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Science, Industrial Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or equivalent fields.
  • Three to five years of experience in Safety and/or Environmental Management.
  • Broad knowledge of safety and environmental laws and practices.
  • ASP or CSP certification preferred.
  • Proven track record of driving results and continuous improvement.
  • Experience in developing high-performance teams.
  • Practical knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma strategies.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Skills

  • Experience administering government-mandated reporting for safety and environmental programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, data entry, database management, and Microsoft Office software.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills for all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to coach employees and management objectively to increase safety and environmental awareness.
  • Physical ability to reach above shoulders, squat, bend, kneel, walk up to 1,000 feet regularly, and climb stairs occasionally.
  • Visual acuity up to five feet.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
