Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the facility’s environmental, health, safety, and sustainability initiatives in alignment with local, group, and corporate objectives.
- Manage safety performance and reporting through electronic EHS Safety Management Systems.
- Ensure full compliance with OSHA, EPA, and all applicable local, state, and federal EHS regulations; represent or support representation of the company in all regulatory interactions.
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Design, coordinate, and deliver training programs for managers and employees on key safety and environmental topics, including fire prevention, lockout/tagout, hazardous waste handling, spill prevention and control, chemical hygiene and safety, hearing conservation, respiratory protection, and hazard communication.
- Serve as a key leader on the plant Safety Committee, facilitating safety initiatives, campaigns, and communications.
- Oversee site emergency action planning, including collaboration with local Police and Fire Departments and coordination of emergency drills.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and EPA Risk Management Program (RMP) standards, including scheduling Process Hazard Analyses, submitting Risk Management Plans, and training affected personnel.
- Conduct EHS audits to evaluate compliance and identify improvement opportunities; communicate findings to site and corporate leadership and drive corrective actions in partnership with employees.
- Prepare, submit, and maintain all required environmental reports for federal, state, and local agencies.
- Compile, analyze, and submit safety and accident statistics to internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies as required.
- Support the workers’ compensation program by providing incident data, leading investigations, recommending corrective actions, and facilitating return-to-work or modified duty plans to reduce lost time.
