About the role
We are seeking an experienced Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager to lead our safety, compliance, and sustainability programs across our manufacturing and R&D environments.
Key Responsibilities
- EHS Strategy & Compliance Systems Management: Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive site-specific EHS management systems.
- Regulatory Oversight: Ensure total compliance with OSHA standards, EPA regulations, State DEQs, ISO 9001, and local requirements.
- Waste Management: Oversee the safe handling, storage, tracking, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
- Sustainability: Integrate continuous improvement and sustainability best practices into daily site operations.
- Safety Leadership & Risk Mitigation: Culture & Initiatives, Lead site-wide safety initiatives, injury prevention plans, and operational excellence programs.
- Incident Investigation: Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for accidents and near misses, tracking corrective actions to closure.
- Cross-Functional Risk Management: Partner with production, engineering, and logistics to review processes and mitigate risk.
- Emergency Response: Manage internal first responder teams and maintain active relations with local fire and safety agencies.
- Hazard Analysis: Execute facility risk assessments, Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), and process safety reviews.
- Policy Creation: Author and maintain EHS documentation, visitor protocols, and occupational health testing programs.
- Audits & Permits: Manage internal/external EHS audits and maintain vital permits (air emissions, stormwater, SPCC).
- Metrics Reporting: Track, analyze, and report key EHS performance indicators and safety metrics to leadership.
- Training & Engagement: Curriculum Delivery, Develop and deliver high-impact safety training (LOTO, Confined Space, PPE, HazCom).
- Workforce Engagement: Foster EHS awareness, mentoring cross-functional teams as a trusted safety advisor.
Position Requirements
- Required Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Business, Occupational/Industrial Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or equivalent; 7+ years of EHS experience within a manufacturing production and R&D environment; Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent, and OSHA 30-Hour card; Demonstrated experience delivering in accordance with strict regulatory policies and government contractual frameworks; U.S. citizenship or verified eligibility under FAR/DFAR requirements.
- Preferred Qualifications: Advanced Degree: Master’s degree in Environmental Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related scientific field; 10+ years of progressively responsible EHS leadership experience; Advanced Certifications: Certified Safety & Health Manager (CSHM), Master Safety Professional (MSP), or Certified Safety Director (CSD); OSHA Training: Completion of OSHA Courses 501, 2015, 2045, 2225, and 2455; Industry Specifics: Deep safety experience handling metal powders, metallurgy, chemicals, or advanced hazardous materials; Security & Facility Operations: Experience acting as a Facility Security Officer (FSO), completion of FSO Program Management, behavior-based security, or Insider Threat Working Group coursework.
