EHS Manager

About the Role

The Forgen EHS Manager leads the implementation and administration of the Forgen EHS Program, supporting selected projects across the company, including high-profile and/or high-demand projects where superior safety and health performance is critical. This role is fully engaged in Forgen’s Incident and Injury Free (IIF) Commitment Journey and is responsible for conducting project audits, developing Health and Safety plans (HASPs), supervising and supporting EHS Supervisors/Technicians, conducting training, and facilitating incident investigations.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and be accountable for direct reports.
• Drive a safety culture promoting Incident and Injury Free Performance.
• Provide effective Safety and Health support to project teams.
• Assist the Regional EHS Manager with program and policy development.
• Identify safety training opportunities and program gaps.
• Create and implement safety and health policies.
• Deliver training, mentoring, and coaching to project and EHS teams.
• Work with project Operations teams to develop safety practices.
• Engage with project managers and supervisors to ensure safety compliance.
• Evaluate field operations and emergency response procedures.
• Provide safety performance data and narratives to leadership.
• Help create and improve project Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
• Apply hazard identification and risk assessment processes.
• Participate in Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) development and review.
• Ensure safety data and incident reports are entered in EHS Insights.
• Promote Safety and Health awareness through training and campaigns.
• Conduct incident and near-miss investigations.
• Participate in compliance assurance audits and inspections.
• Serve as a liaison between Forgen and client representatives.
• Perform and document inspections (e.g., fire extinguishers, ladders).
• Review project schedules and communicate safety concerns.
• Perform air sampling, monitoring, and basic industrial hygiene tasks.
• Manage employee certifications, training, and medical screenings.
• Identify and manage Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) needs.
• Develop safety training packages and ensure compliance.
• Evaluate and set up Occupational Clinics at project locations.
• Perform additional assignments and special projects as directed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in safety, engineering, construction, or related field.
• BCSP designation (e.g., CSP, CHST, STS).
• Minimum 5+ years managing safety programs in civil, environmental, or general construction, or similar high-end safety program backgrounds.
• Valid Driver’s License and ability to drive for company business.

• 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training
• Competent Person Safety Training
• 8-Hour Supervisory Training
• OSHA 500 Certification
• First Aid and CPR
• MSHA related courses

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This role requires lifting up to 50 pounds, extended standing or walking on project sites, climbing in and out of equipment, and working in confined spaces or at heights. Work conditions may include exposure to heavy machinery, chemicals, dust, fumes, noise, and extreme weather. Proper PPE is required.
