About the role

The PPC EHS Leader is an experienced site leadership role responsible for protecting people, the environment, the surrounding community, and business continuity across PPC's 24/7 blown-film extrusion and converting operations. Reporting to the Plant Manager and serving on the Plant Management Team, this leader owns the site Environmental, Health and Safety management system; ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and DuPont requirements; and partners with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, Human Resources, Supply Chain, and employees to identify and eliminate risk, strengthen EHS culture, and continuously improve performance.

Responsibilities

  • Embraces and role models DuPont Core Values; builds a culture in which every employee and contractor is empowered to identify hazards, stop work when conditions are unsafe, and take ownership for EHS performance.
  • Leads, develops, and retains the site EHS team and competency networks; establishes clear expectations, provides coaching and technical guidance, and builds EHS capability among leaders, supervisors, safety committees, and frontline employees.
  • Owns, maintains, and continuously improves the site EHS management system, compliance calendar, legal register, policies, procedures, records, and governance routines; supports alignment with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 principles and DuPont standards.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, DOT, fire code, workers' compensation, environmental permit, and state/local requirements; monitors regulatory changes and serves as the primary site interface for inspections, reporting, and agency interactions.
  • Establishes EHS strategy, annual objectives, and leading and lagging metrics; analyzes trends such as serious-injury potential, recordable and lost-time incidents, near misses, corrective-action closure, training completion, audit findings, environmental events, waste, water, and emissions.
  • Leads site risk-management processes, including EHS reviews for capital projects and change management; job hazard analyses, ergonomic assessments, industrial hygiene, machine safety, LOTO, electrical safety, work at height, confined space, hot work, powered industrial trucks, chemical safety, and PPE selection.
  • Leads incident and near-miss reporting, investigation, root-cause analysis, lessons learned, and corrective/preventive action verification; partners with HR and medical providers on injury case management, workers' compensation, and effective return-to-work programs.
  • Strengthens contractor safety through prequalification, onboarding, permit-to-work controls, field oversight, performance review, and disciplined follow-up for construction, maintenance, sanitation, logistics, and other contracted services.
  • Directs environmental compliance and stewardship programs, including air, water, stormwater, waste, spill prevention and response, chemical management, emergency planning, required reporting, pollution prevention, and site sustainability initiatives.
  • Develops and delivers an effective EHS training and communication system, including new-hire orientation, supervisor capability, emergency response, hazard communication, LOTO, fire prevention, forklift safety, PPE, ergonomics, and other required programs; maintains accurate training records.
  • Leads internal and corporate audits, regulatory inspections, and emergency preparedness drills; ensures readiness, timely closure of findings, and verification that actions are effective and sustained.
  • Drives continuous improvement through Gemba walks, leader standard work, tiered accountability, safety Kaizen, A3, 5 Why, and other structured problem-solving methods; benchmarks and shares best practices across the DuPont network.

Qualifications

  • 7 years of relevant EHS, manufacturing, engineering, operations, industrial hygiene, environmental, occupational health, or continuous-improvement experience; experience in plastics, flexible packaging, chemical processing, or another 24/7 manufacturing environment preferred.
  • 2 years of direct people leadership experience or demonstrated leadership of cross-functional EHS programs, technical networks, and complex improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience owning or substantially supporting regulatory compliance, environmental permits, EHS audits/inspections, incident investigations, risk assessments, emergency response, contractor safety, and corrective-action systems.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA requirements, workers' compensation and return-to-work practices, and recognized EHS management-system principles; practical experience with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data, influence at all organizational levels, manage multiple priorities independently, and translate complex requirements into practical operating controls.
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent relevant manufacturing and EHS experience considered.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or comparable certification preferred.
  • ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, OSHA 30-Hour, incident-investigation, or Lean/Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, facilitation, coaching, organization, problem-solving, and Microsoft Office/data-analysis skills; English/Spanish bilingual capability is preferred.
