About the role
The EHS Manager is responsible for the overall Environmental Health and Safety analysis and adherence for the organization, which includes four locations, containing a mix of office and manufacturing facilities. Reporting to the VP of Operations & Supply Chain, this individual will plan, direct, implement and manage JSA programs, protocols and procedures that ensure and promote a positive, safe, healthy, and incident-free work environment.
Responsibilities
- Inform leaders and provide direction to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local EHS regulations (e.g., EPA, OSHA, DoT, MPCA).
- Govern internal process audits and represent the organization during regulatory agency interactions.
- Conduct Job Safety Analyses and risk assessments to identify hazards, determine root causes, and recommend effective mitigation strategies.
- Coach leadership and employees at all levels on EHS expectations and safe work practices.
- Investigate injuries, near-misses, and other incidents.
- Implement and verify corrective and preventive actions.
- Respond to employee safety concerns, risk mitigation ideas, and ergonomic issues in support of a proactive safety culture.
- Work closely with Hazardous Waste coordinators to maintain a compliance calendar, prepare reports and permits, and conduct site audits of TSDFs.
- Ensure proper handling and documentation of SDS/MSDS and related environmental protocols.
- Develop and implement industrial hygiene monitoring plans.
- Serve as Radiation Safety Officer in accordance with ALARA standards, ensuring compliance with radiation safety regulations and best practices.
- Develop, deliver, and update EHS training programs, including new employee orientation.
- Maintain accurate safety training records, certifications, injury reports, and other documentation as required by regulations.
- Lead the Safety Committee in setting objectives, driving initiatives, and supporting a culture of safety throughout the organization.
- Maintain and submit all EHS documentation and reports in accordance with applicable regulatory guidelines and internal policies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned in alignment with the EHS Strategic Plan and organizational goals.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Environmental Health, Safety, Industrial Science, or related field preferred.
- 4+ years of EHS experience working with technical specialty, applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines in coherence with chemical and hazardous waste management, manufacturing safety and ergonomics, and first responder protocols.
- Experience managing EHS protocols within a manufacturing environment that includes chemical plating, metal finishing, or high-density chemical processing lines is strongly preferred.
- 2+ years project lead/project management experience.
- 2+ years training (trainer) experience.
- Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and/or ISO 14001 systems preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and harbor positive changes.
- Computer skills commensurate with job requirements (Microsoft office suite, data management, EHS/JSA monitoring software, cloud-based systems, networking, email, etc.).
- Exceptional organizational skills with a high attention to detail.
- Familiarity, and experience with 5S methodology.
- Must be entrusted with confidential information.
- Able to perform tasks requiring moderate manual dexterity.
- Professional certification in one or more EHS specialties (CIH, CHMM, CSP, CBSP, CHP, etc.) is highly preferred.
- CPR Certification.
- Further professional certification or licenses may be required by regulation.
- Valid Driver’s license.
Pay
We offer a competitive base salary in the $97,000 to $130,000 range, based on experience and qualifications, along with annual bonus and profit-sharing opportunities tied to performance.
