EHS ASSISTANT TEACHER *Applicant pool for August 2026*

About the role

Aid in providing educational services to low-income and special needs children through collaboration with the classroom teacher.

Responsibilities

• Assist with assessments and individualizations
• Design and implement daily lesson plans
• Set up and maintain a developmentally appropriate classroom environment
• Maintain records including child observation notes, lesson plan notes, and attendance
• Follow bus safety protocols
• Ensure a safe environment and provide continuous supervision
• Use PBIS approach to guide children
• Greet and escort children to the classroom
• Prepare and gather materials under teacher's direction
• Participate in parent Open Houses and childcare at monthly meetings
• Conduct developmental screenings as needed

Requirements

• Education and Experience:
• Child Development Associate (CDA)
• Associates or higher degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred
• Experience in early childhood education, certified child care center, or comparable group care program
• Skills and Abilities:
• Work effectively with low-income and special needs children
• Interact positively with diverse families
• Use a positive approach to direct and redirect behavior
• Work cooperatively as part of a team
• Obtain and maintain a current Oregon Food Handler’s Card
• Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and vehicle for job use (or alternative transportation)
• Possess and maintain compliance with State of Oregon Criminal Background Registry
• Possess and maintain current First Aid/CPR certification
• Working Conditions:
