EH&S Manager

About the role

A National ENR Top 25 General Contractor, Whiting-Turner is seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety Manager for various commercial projects in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, team-based environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and enforce safety programs to comply with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards, environmental laws, and regulations.
• Ensure all company activities meet or exceed environmental, health, and safety requirements and standards.
• Maintain records of workplace injuries, incidents, and safety training for compliance and audits.
• Work with management to implement improvements based on audit results, incident trends, and employee feedback.
• Coordinate drills, including fire drills, evacuation plans, and first aid training, to ensure employees are prepared for emergencies.

Requirements

• 5 to 20+ years of experience in EH&S management, preferably in a similar industry and 5+ years of continuous experience in construction safety.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety and Health Management, Safety Management, or equivalent.
• Certifications in Environmental, Health, and Safety to include (e.g., OSHA 500, CHST, ASP/GSP Designation) is required. CSP designation - preferred.
• Bilingual - preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental laws, and health and safety standards.
• Strong understanding of safety protocols, risk assessments, and emergency response planning.
• Proficiency in EH&S management software and tools.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lead safety teams, conduct training sessions, and influence organizational culture.
• Strong knowledge of environmental sustainability practices and waste management.
• Ability to work extended hours and respond to emergencies as needed.

Qualifications

• Preferred experience and skill set: Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety and Health Management, Safety Management, or equivalent.
• Preferred certifications: Certifications in Environmental, Health, and Safety to include (e.g., OSHA 500, CHST, ASP/GSP Designation) is required. CSP designation - preferred.
• Preferred bilingual skills.
• Preferred in-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental laws, and health and safety standards.
• Preferred strong understanding of safety protocols, risk assessments, and emergency response planning.
• Preferred proficiency in EH&S management software and tools.
• Preferred excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Whiting-Turner offers a competitive salary range, dependent on a number of factors including role, level, relevant education, experience, training, skills and abilities, location, and market and business considerations. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of the various factors identified above.

The annual base salary range listed is subject to change at any time, in the Company’s discretion, and does not alter in any way the at-will nature of the employment relationship.
