About the role
This position supports the mission of the Agency, Division, and Branch by independently determining the completeness of documents received from new applicants for initial licensure, as well as requests from current or past credential holders for renewal, reinstatement, and endorsements. The role facilitates the issuance of licenses to professional educators employed in Maryland local education agencies, nonpublic schools, state institutions, and those seeking Maryland professional licensure.
Responsibilities
- Independently screen applications to determine completeness of documents.
- Review all correspondence and documentation received and assign to the appropriate specialist.
- Enter information into The Educator Application and Credentialing Hub (TEACH).
- Provide internal and external constituents with complex licensure information.
- Offer technical assistance to applicants submitting requests through the portal.
- Support scanning of licensure documents.
- Independently complete Hall of Records requests.
- Provide back-up administrative support for the Division of Educator Effectiveness.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
- Four years of experience performing secretarial or clerical work involving typing duties.
- One year of experience working in education (private, higher education, or local education agency).
- Applicants must meet selective qualifications and consent to a State Police Investigation (fingerprinting).
Additional substitutions for education/experience:
- Additional secretarial or clerical experience may substitute year-for-year for the required education.
- Thirty credit hours in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may substitute for up to two years of the required experience.
- U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration or Administrative/Clerical/Office Services may substitute year-for-year for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Call Center Customer Service.
- Experience with Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, and Smartsheet.
- Experience with document management (filing, scanning, cataloging).
- Data management experience.
