Educator Fellow SY 2026-2027

Position Summary

Zuni Public School District has received a grant to hire Educator Fellows to support students during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

About the role

The Educator Fellows Program aims to create a new teacher pipeline and improve adult-to-student ratios in New Mexico schools.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support services under the direct supervision of a mentor teacher.
• Aid the mentor teacher in program content and maintain open communication.
• Consult and assist the mentor teacher continuously regarding program content and student progress.
• Plan and deliver individualized targeted instruction to students in reading and math.
• Track student progress and plan interventions with the mentor teacher.
• Maintain accurate records as required.
• Participate in professional development and micro-courses.
• Develop strong relationships with students and colleagues.
• Attend coaching and feedback sessions regularly.

Requirements

• High school diploma (required)
• NMPED Educational Assistant and Substitute Teacher License or eligibility to obtain one (must be in place within the first month of employment)
• College degree or relevant coursework in education
• Willingness to learn Zuni language and culture
• Computer skills (Microsoft Office, Internet)
• Reading and writing skills
• Interpersonal communication skills, including teamwork
• Self-directed and self-motivated
• Task-oriented and able to prioritize tasks
• Empathy and professionalism

Contract Term, Salary and Benefits

• One-year temporary employment contract for the 2026-2027 school year
• Salary: $32,500
• Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision insurance; retirement; paid time off; stipends for college tuition, books, and fees; and paid educational leave for course participation and meetings.
