Educator Development Counselor
About the role
You'll be a full-cycle inside sales professional guiding teachers through the decision to enroll in B4C's accredited Master's of Education programs. Marketing fills your calendar with booked 1:1 phone calls — you run a consultative discovery conversation, help each educator reach an honest fit decision, and enroll the ones the program genuinely serves. The product is transformative: graduates consistently describe the degree as life-changing for their teaching, wellbeing, and personal lives. Every enrollment you close helps a teacher stay in the profession stronger than they came to it.
How we work
- You'd be joining an awesome team: A small group of mission-driven professionals who genuinely like each other and collaborate closely. We chase a team goal, share best practices in real time, review each other's calls, and celebrate wins together. There are no individual volume quotas or competition.
- We take selling seriously as a craft: Our sales motion is documented and built from what our best people actually do, not theory. Most wins close on the first substantive conversation, supported by disciplined follow-up. Coaching and AI tooling help you ramp up quickly (weeks, not quarters). After onboarding, you own your process.
- We sell with integrity, structurally: Teachers are trust professionals, and our buyers for life. Pressure tactics, false urgency, or manufactured scarcity are incompatible with our values and regulations. Honest disqualification is celebrated. The product's high NPS (+70s) means the honest conversation is also the effective one.
Responsibilities
- Run ~8-12 scheduled discovery calls daily (20 minutes each) with teachers who booked time to discuss the M.Ed. program. Assess fit, answer program/financing questions, and ask for the enrollment decision when appropriate.
- Own follow-up between calls: purposeful texting to protect shows, completion calls to finalize decisions, and ensuring no promises to teachers slip through the cracks.
- Sell during teachers' available windows: during the school year, calls concentrate around planning/lunch periods (noon–2pm ET) and after school (4–8pm ET); summer shifts earlier. Your core coverage window is approximately noon–8pm ET on weekdays (preferred time zones: Central or Mountain).
- Hand off newly enrolled educators cleanly to the onboarding team. Your focus remains on the decision; a dedicated team handles post-deposit processes.
- Contribute to team improvement: participate in film-room call reviews, provide script feedback, and share what's working. The playbook evolves based on reps' proven wording.
Requirements
- Proven consultative closer: 2+ years in a full-cycle closing role (high-consideration B2C like education, financial services, insurance, home services, or coaching/wellness programs) with a quantifiable track record.
- One-conversation instincts: Ability to earn a decision in the first call when fit is real — discovery first, then a direct, unapologetic ask — and walk away warmly when it isn't.
- Follow-through as craft: A system to manage 100+ open conversations without slippage. Organized is table stakes; we seek someone who treats follow-up as the job, not an interruption.
- Fast, eager tool adopter: Comfort with CRM (HubSpot a plus), AI-assisted call review/coaching, texting/scheduling tools, and Google Workspace. You pick up new tools quickly and integrate them into your workflow.
- Calendar owner: Manage your energy and hours like a professional athlete — boundaries, blocks, evening selling by design, and recovery budgeted after surges.
- Teammate on purpose: Thrive in a collaborative environment where reps improve in public (film-room reviews, script feedback). You sharpen others and welcome their input; closers who guard tricks don’t succeed here.
- Mission-resonant: Care that the product changes teachers' lives and can articulate why in your own words. Our best closers are here on purpose — selling work that matters is the point.
No admissions, higher-ed, or education-industry experience required. We teach the domain, program, and playbook; what we can’t teach in eight weeks is professional selling.
Growth
This role has a clear career ladder: EDC → Senior EDC, with promotions earned based on craft, ownership, team impact, and judgment (assessed from actual work, not tenure). Our most recent Senior promotion went to a rep whose calls became film-room examples for the team. We promote from within intentionally.
Why this role
This opportunity combines three rare elements: a product with real outcomes, a team of mission-driven professionals who treat selling as a craft, and a mission you’d defend at dinner. Teachers are holding up the hardest job in America, and those who find us are seeking growth without leaving the classroom. You’d be the person who helps them decide well.
Pay
Base salary: $80,000–$100,000, depending on experience and demonstrated track record.
Benefits
- Equity eligibility (varies by experience).
- Health, vision, and dental insurance.
- 401k and FSA/HSA eligibility.
- Unlimited PTO.
Note: Compensation is never linked to enrollment counts due to accreditation and Title IV compliance. Raises and promotions are based on craft and professional factors.
