About the role

The Educator plays a crucial role in providing essential education services to a diverse community, ensuring that participants receive quality support and resources.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outreach, enrollment, and orientation activities for eligible participants.
  • Establish and maintain a trusting and professional working relationship with families and the target population.
  • Collaborate with Program Director and Care Coordinators to provide community education.
  • Facilitate and/or plan group-based education sessions tailored to meet the needs of the target population.
  • Provide one-on-one non-clinical mentoring as needed.
  • Conduct surveys among the program participants to help identify the most needed topics.
  • Foster supportive connections between participants.
  • Disseminate educational material in accordance with HHSC Guidelines.
  • Attend community events to perform outreach and recruitment.
  • Maintain timely and accurate file documentation and data entry that meets the program requirements.
  • Report any suspected abuse or neglect to the Program Director and all appropriate state and county enforcement agencies.
  • Maintain own schedule of education classes and events.
  • Identify and maintain professional relationships with clients and community partners.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, in-service training, and case consultations.
  • Maintain BCFS HHS professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in the employee handbook, including demonstrating respect for agency staff, the service population, and community members and complying with the required dress code, at all times.
  • Meet measurable deliverables such as facilitating education sessions twice a week, collaborating with the Program Supervisor, enrolling 3-4 new participants weekly, documenting client visits, interactions, outcomes, and education provided to participants in Salesforce within two business days, creating and overseeing monthly education schedule, recording all activities in a complete, concise, and timely manner utilizing program forms into Salesforce (BCFS) software, meeting all deadlines required by the Program Supervisor, Program Director, Regional Director, and state/federal partners, and demonstrating the ability to respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics, communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English and Spanish, work in a fast-paced environment, maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position, work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team, and travel as needed.

Requirements

  • Maintain certificates required for the position including but not limited to First Aid and CPR.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s license with a clear driving record and reliable transportation.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens.
  • Provide proof or work eligibility status upon request.
  • Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background and motor vehicle check (fingerprints needed if applicant has lived out of state within the past 5 years).
