About the role

Apollo After School is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to work with children in a school-based setting. The position is seasonal and follows the school district calendar for the 2026–2027 school year.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a high-quality learning environment and manage activities that extend the school day;
  • Aid in the implementation of classroom curriculum and weekly lesson plans when needed;
  • Ensure the safety and security of children enrolled;
  • Follow designated schedule and curriculum, maintain a routine for students;
  • Effectively attract and retain students through enthusiasm, teaching skills, and patience;
  • Assist with homework completion;
  • Ability to command respect and cooperation in an elementary classroom.

Requirements

  • Confidence to run a classroom alone.
  • Applicants must be 18+ and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A team player who can collaborate with peers.
  • Ability to assess and solve problems associated with elementary-aged children.
  • Ability to create and maintain a fun, caring, and responsive educational environment.
  • Minimum of one year working with school-age youth, ages 4-10 in a school/after-school setting.
  • Candidates must possess a current CPR and First Aid certification obtained through in-person training.

Qualifications

  • No degree required, but a degree in education is highly valued.

Skills

  • Ability to command respect and cooperation in an elementary classroom.

Pay

$20 - $24 per hour (depending on experience).

Schedule

This position is seasonal and follows the school district calendar for the 2026–2027 school year. Hours include:

  • Before Care: Monday through Friday between 7 am to 9 am
  • Recess: Monday through Friday between 10 am to 1 pm
  • After Care: Monday through Friday between 2 pm to 6 pm
