About the role

Noorda College of Osteopathic Medicine is seeking an Educational Learning Specialist to support medical students in strengthening their learning strategies, making informed adjustments to their learning approaches, and maximizing their academic success throughout medical school. Through individualized academic counseling, data-informed support, and collaboration with faculty and campus partners, the Educational Learning Specialist helps students strengthen their learning, persistence, and academic achievement while supporting learners across the academic spectrum.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized academic counseling related to learning and study strategies, time management, test taking, goal setting, accountability, and academic growth
  • Facilitate student reflection, metacognition, self-awareness, and ownership of learning
  • Help students interpret performance data and use it to adjust their learning approaches
  • Monitor academic performance indicators and identify trends that may warrant outreach or intervention
  • Maintain accurate, confidential documentation in accordance with FERPA and institutional policies
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to coordinate student support and connect students with appropriate resources
  • Contribute to Academic Success initiatives, institutional programs, and continuous-improvement efforts
  • Engage in ongoing professional development related to learning science, adult learning, academic coaching, student support, and medical education

Requirements

  • Minimum Qualifications And Experience
    • Master’s degree in education, psychology, counseling, or a related field
    • Experience coaching, advising, teaching, mentoring, or supporting adult learners
    • Ability to build trusting, supportive relationships with students, faculty, and colleagues while maintaining appropriate confidentiality and professional boundaries
    • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
    • Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
    • Commitment to continuous learning, professional growth, and student success
    • Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Forms, OneNote, Outlook, and Teams
  • Preferred Qualifications and Experience
    • Experience in higher education or health professions education, including experience supporting learner development, academic counseling, or student success initiatives
    • Familiarity with learning science, metacognition, self-directed learning, and academic support practices

Pay

  • Competitive salary range of $55,000 to $60,000 commensurate with experience and education
  • All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a background check and verification of applicable credentials and licensure
