About the Role

To implement instructional activities and programs as directed. The role involves working with students individually, in small groups, or in large groups as prescribed by the immediate supervisor. Educational Assistants may work with students in the general school population or those with identified special needs, providing support in the appropriate educational setting as defined in an individual education plan (IEP).

Responsibilities

  • Work with students individually, in small groups, or in large groups as necessary and as prescribed by the immediate supervisor.
  • Demonstrate continuous sensitivity to the needs of children to whom they are assigned.
  • Carry out instructional or developmental activities suggested by the teacher, specialist, or others designated by the building administrator.
  • Maintain competency and skills through available professional development offerings.
  • May be responsible for personal care needs of student(s).
  • May be expected to obtain and maintain CPI (Non-Violent Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school graduate.
  • Preferably college experience.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds.

Pay

Hourly salary: $19.56 plus $1.00 for a certification from the NH Department of Education as a paraeducator II or as a teacher. An additional $3.00 per hour differential for certification as a Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT).

Schedule

6.5 hours per day, 183 days per school year.
